The Latasha Norman Center for Counseling Services is committed to working with Jackson State University students experiencing certain adjustment challenges as they matriculate through their academic program and college experience.The mission of the Latasha Norman Center – Counseling Services is to provide services and activities that can assist Jackson State University (JSU) students as they transition and seek assistance with building their problem-solving skills, managing relationships and becoming more independent and confident as students and global citizensThe University produces technologically-advanced, diverse, ethical, global leaders who think critically, address society problems, and compete effectively.The Latasha Norman Center for Counseling Services is a short-term student support service. The Center is located in the JSU Student Center on the 2nd floor. Contact number is 601-979-0374.

Counseling Services:

The LNC provides brief psychotherapy for individual students, couples, and groups, as well as consultation to faculty, staff, concerned friends and family as needed, as well as counseling crisis intervention services, training and outreach to the campus community to contribute to the creation of a healthy campus environment.

The Latasha Norman Center for Counseling and Psychological Services was erected in 2007. The Center’s name changed in 2012 to Latasha Norman Center for Counseling and Disability Services when the disability services program and counseling program were unified in one location.  Presently the Center is the Latasha Norman Center for Counseling Services, still serving as a tribute to the student who died as a result of domestic violence, Latasha Norman who was a 20-year-old native of Greenville, MS and an accounting major at Jackson State University. She would have graduated in May 2010.

NOTE: The Latasha Norman Center for Counseling staff does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, sex, age, sexual orientation, physical and mental abilities, socioeconomic status or religious choice. We service all actively enrolled students of Jackson State University who need assistance.
